Hello brightkite, Hello world

Today I joined the new location-based social network, brightkite. It’s a very interesting app. You “check in” at your current location, then you see who's nearby and what they’re doing. You can also link it up with twitter so that when you post to brightkite, your post shows up on twitter with a link to a map of where you are. You’ll have to check it out to see if it’s your type of thing, so far, I like it. I do have an invite left if anyone is interested, just email me.

Do you have something to say?

  1. Now that it’s been a week, what are your thoughts on brightkite now? As a Verizon wireless user, brightkite is A LOT less useful to me (us? You use Verizon as well, right?) than it is for users of other carriers.

I think it’s certainly a nice idea, and someday when I finally get an iPhone (which, when that time comes, will probably force me over to AT&T), I think I’ll give brightkite another fresh start.

  2. I totally agree. Being a Verizon customer, I can’t use brightkite to it’s fullest ability. If I can’t check in with my cellphone when I get somewhere, what’s the point? Perhaps when they support Verizon, or I get an iPhone, I may be a more steady user.
