- The Lunch Bunch
The Lunch Bunch is a little non-event that was thrown together as an offshoot of the Build Guild to bring web-geeks together for an hour-long lunch a couple of times per month. Web-geeks need to know other web-geeks. We need to make new connections, increase our network, hear about what others are doing, and be in the right place when somebody else needs to out-source a gig… and we need to do all of that in one hour while enjoying food and a beercoke.
Launch the Lunch Bunch >>- paulkelleydesign.com
Almost four years after graduating, I finally created a website for myself. In April 2008, paulkelleydesign.com launched and became my personal playground. As hard as it was to design something I liked, the next part would be my toughest, development. After 6 months of teaching myself CSS, and learning how to keep my code clean and semantic, I made my first attempt at developing a site from scratch. I think it turned out pretty good. I also used this as my opportunity to start blogging abou things that interest me. It has been a slow start, but I will pick it up soon. I’m responsible for the design, XHTML, CSS and the little amount of PHP you’ll find.

This is a small flash application that can be used as an image gallery. It is XML driven and uses Actionscript(2.0) and tween classes to execute the animation. The flash app loads each image once and uses that one load for the thumb, regular, and reflected view, thus saving on load time. The thumb roll over is something a little different, instead of the image getting bigger, it reveals more of the image. Also notice the reflection under the image during transition.

This beirut table was a christmas present to a friend in 2007. The theme was Red Sox VS Yankees, obviously. The table sports (pun intended) two giant logos with additional logos of the ALCS and the World Series that both teams were involved in, placed throughout. It was printed on vinyl, and attached to a plastic folding table. Two pieces of plexi-glass were bolted on top to ensure a nice, solid playing surface. The table measures 6' by 3'.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is a show on FOX that premiered in January, 2008. As a way to promote the premiere of the show, executives at FOX decided to conduct a contest in which fans submitted poster designs that would be used by FOX as print collateral. Designers were given images of the characters to work with, as well as small graphic elements such as skin tears revealing the metal skelaton. I used Photoshop to construct my designs which I submitted to FOX.
